ABOUT THE TEMPLE
Introduction
The Dharma-Vijaya Buddhist Association (DVBA) was registered as a religious organization in 2014 with the aim of cultivating the Buddha’s teachings among its members through the triple dispensations of Buddhism: Pariyatti (learning), Patipatti (practicing), and Pativedha (realizing). To fulfil our vision, mission, and objectives, we are diligently involved in various activities, including:
- Teaching Buddha-dhamma for adults, along with Pali language
- Sunday Dhamma school for children
- Youth activities for students and working adults
- Mental health development programs for senior citizens
- Chanting practice
- Weekly Meditation sessions
- Welfare activities
- The Temple-to-People program
- Well-organized rituals to enhance devotion, essential for spiritual progress
Buddhists in Malaysia are keenly interested in learning and practicing the Dhamma. However, there is a significant gap in Malaysia due to a lack of teachers to guide people in their gradual development towards liberation from suffering. Recognizing this need, we organize every activity to enhance knowledge of the Buddha’s teachings and lead the Malaysian Buddhist community toward the correct path to liberation.
DVBA Vision & Mission
The Dharma-Vijaya Buddhist Association envisions a world where the teachings of the Buddha are deeply integrated into daily life, guiding individuals towards wisdom, compassion, and inner peace. By fostering learning, practice, and realization of these teachings, we aim to cultivate a harmonious and enlightened community.
The Dharma-Vijaya Buddhist Association, registered with ROS Malaysia on August 7, 2014, is dedicated to promoting the Buddha’s teachings through three core aspects:
Pariyatti (Learning): To enhance understanding of fundamental Buddhist teachings, we established the Dharma-Vijaya Institute of Buddhist Studies and Oriental Languages (DIBSOL). Over 200 students have graduated from DIBSOL. Currently our students serve various Buddhist societies as committee members, Sunday school teachers, Preachers and youth leaders.
Patipatti (Practicing): In 2016, we founded a Hermitage for meditation at Bukit Cherakah to provide a conducive environment for practicing Buddha’s teachings. In 2019, we transferred our activities to the Dharma-Vijaya Sati Vihara in Ara Damansara, continuing our commitment to spiritual practice. Meditation family of DVBA is firmly established allowing individuals to get instructions and maintain their practice continuously.
Pativedha (Realizing): Through dedicated practice of the Buddha’s teachings, we strive to cultivate a deep realization through day to day experiments and embodiment of insight wisdom in our community.
Start of Our Journey
DVBA commenced its activities such as guided mediation, teaching programs, and Pali language workshops for members in 2015. Initially, Shah Alam Buddhist society was facilitating us for activities to move forward whereas, meditation activities moved to Dharma-Vijaya Hermitage in Bukit Cherakah in 20216. Concerning, need of an activity centre in town, DVBA opened Dharma-Vijaya Sati Vihara in Ara Damansara in 2019 April.
We are deeply grateful to note that, within 18 months of DVBA registration DVBA received a piece of land from the Selangor government in Chahaya SPK to build a temple.
