The Historical Tipiṭaka Inscription Project
The Historical Tipiṭaka Inscription Project
The Tipiṭaka, the sacred canon of Theravāda Buddhism, is the foundation of Buddhist teachings and practice. While modern technology allows digital and printed preservation, inscribing the Tipiṭaka on durable metal materials ensures:
- Long-term preservation for centuries
- Protection against loss due to disasters or technological failure
- Cultural and spiritual heritage for Malaysia
- A sacred pilgrimage and learning site
- Promotion of Buddhist education and unity among communities
Inspired by historical models such as:
- King Mindon’s Kuthodaw Pagoda (Myanmar – world’s largest book)
- Sri Lankan stone inscriptions
- Thai marble Tipiṭaka halls
